Status of the Lcls Experiment Timing System*

چکیده
SLAC, Menlo Park, CA 94309, USA Abstract X-ray / optical laser pump probe experiments are used for a significant fraction of the scientific work performed at LCLS.[1] The experimental laser systems are locked to the timing of the electron beam through a combination of RF and optical fiber based systems. The remaining ~100 femtosecond RMS jitter of the X-rays relative to the optical laser is measured shot-to-shot by both a RF timing detector, and by direct X-ray to optical cross-correlation, and the result is used to correct the experiment timing to 10s of femtoseconds. We present the present status of the system and plans for future upgrades.

Lymphoblastoid cell lines: a continuous in vitro source of cells to study carcinogen sensitivity and DNA repair
Obtaining a continuous source of normal cells or DNA from a single individual has always been a rate limiting step in biomedical research. Availability of Lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs) as a surrogate for isolated or cryopreserved peripheral blood lymphocytes has substantially accelerated the process of biological investigations. LCLs can be established by in vitro infection of resting B cell...
متن کاملStatus of the LCLS X-Ray FEL Program
The Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) program involves a collaboration of several US National Laboratories and universities with the goal of designing and building the first 4-generation hard x-ray source, an x-ray free-electron laser (FEL). This FEL will utilize extremely short, intense, low-emittance electron pulses created by the high-energy linear accelerator at the Stanford Linear Acceler...
متن کاملFemtosecond Synchronization of Laser Systems for the Lcls*
The scientific potential of femtosecond x-ray pulses at linac-driven free-electron lasers such as the Linac Coherent Light Source is tremendous. Time-resolved pump-probe experiments require a measure of the relative arrival time of each x-ray pulse with respect to the experimental pump laser. To achieve this, precise synchronization is required between the arrival time diagnostic and the laser,...
متن کاملTHE IN VITRO GROWTH PROPERTIES OF CELL LINES FROM EPSTEIN-BARR VIRUS-INDUCED TAMARIN TUMORS AND TAMARIN B CELLS TR ANSFORMED BY EPSTEIN BARR VIRUS
EBV-carrying human cell lines, depending on whether the cells are derived from Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) tumor biopsies or transformed by EBV in vitro, have different growth properties in vitro. In contrast, there are no clear differences between tamarin tumor lines and tamarin LCLs in vitro. Both types of tamarin cell lines could grow in agarose and formed colonies unlike human LCLs, althoug...
متن کاملLetter of Intent for Ultra-short Xray Pulse Measurements at LCLS
Most of the experiments planned for LCLS will require accurate measurements of xray pulse temporal history, including pulse shape and relative timing with optical lasers. These requirements are particularly daunting given the recent demands for shorter pulse-widths (< 50 fs), some of which are discussed at the LCLS workshop[1]. This LOI addresses a novel approach to these measurements. There ar...
